Q36.5's continental development team to close at the end of the season

Several sources confirm the Italian based under-23 feeder squad are disbanding after unsuccessful search for a new sponsor

Q36.5 Pro Cycling’s development team will close its doors at the end of the season according to several sources, including within the team.

Staff and riders in the Continental squad were told earlier this month that the organisation was pulling out of funding the team unless an additional sponsor could be found, with management looking to pump more financial resource into the ProTeam. That search for a new sponsor has been unsuccessful.

“Yes. The Q36.5 Continental team will not continue next year,” a source within the team told Global Peloton.

“[The team] was hoping to find a sponsor, but as the decision was only made earlier this month we've not had much time to find a way to continue,” they added.

Global Peloton has contacted the team for confirmation, but received no response.

The development squad has a history as a development pathway for African riders, initially launched in 2016 as the development squad for Team Qhubeka. Current WorldTour professionals Amanuel Gebreigzabhier, Ryan Gibbons and Stefan de Bod, among others, came through the team.
