After six years at WorldTour level, South African Stefan de Bod found himself without a contract late into 2024. His deal not extended by EF Education-EasyPost, De Bod took a move to Malaysian team Terengganu for this season, where he is looking to re-build his career.

Having raced earlier in his career with Team Dimension Data and Astana, De Bod has become a reliable and experienced team-mate and a solid climber and time-triallist.

Last year had been hit and miss for the 28-year-old, with illness disrupting parts of the season. He competed and did well at his fourth career Grand Tour at the Giro d’Italia, but failed to come away from the year with a significant result to hang his hat on.

“2024 had a lot of ups and downs,” De Bod told Global Peloton.

“I was struggling with my health, which made me miss out on big opportunities such as the UAE Tour and Lombardia at the end of the season,” he continued, detailing the events of his 2024 season.
